Strathcona Girls Grammar student Anna Walsh received top honours this week for her outstanding VCE results in 2021.
It was early in her career that Keely realised she enjoyed the prospect of mining. Working 1km below the earth’s surface gave her a thrill, and the heat, humidity and dust were just part of the job! So she embarked on a career in the mining industry, with various roles as a mining engineer, in production and more recently as a mine scheduler, plus engaging in a range of fly-in-fly out work and 6 days on 6 days off schedules.
Inspiring more girls to choose science subjects at VCE and tertiary level has been a long-time ambition of many educators, with no clear-cut or easy solution.

Emily Harle, Year 12 has paired her voice with her passion to protect our planet, to highlight the very real issues our country faces when it comes to climate change. In She Society today, Emily expresses the need for a clear plan to tackle the negative impacts of climate change to ensure a better future for Australians in years to come.
The Hope is Not Cancelled mural brightens Canterbury Road under the train pass near the Maling Road corner. The mural was born from students work with an artist in residence, Nicole van Dijk and draws from their experience living through the Covid-19 pandemic.
