Message from our Principal

Few decisions as a parent hold the same significance as choosing the right school for your child.

When it comes to making this decision, you want the very best for your child and, indeed, your family.

You want your child to be challenged academically in a happy, safe and nurturing environment by committed educators who are experts in student learning and development.

You want them to have a wide array of opportunities, to develop the capacity to work well with others and to have confidence in themselves and their learning.

You want them to be the best that they can be so that they are intellectually, socially, emotionally and spiritually prepared for the world beyond School.

As we celebrate a century of brilliance and educational excellence at Strathcona Girls Grammar, our centennial year is a tribute to the enduring bonds and cherished community we have built across generations. Strathcona is the epitome of a nurturing and inclusive community—a place where every girl is an integral part of our legacy and future.

Learning at Strathcona is about enjoying and celebrating a journey of discovery and wonder, nourishing the body, mind, spirit and heart. Our educational approach is as distinct and diverse as our students, fostering a genuine sense of belonging, ongoing success in all its forms and fulfilment throughout life.

To nurture the curious, creative, unstoppable learners who walk our halls, we believe that learning needs to be a dynamic and enriching experience, preparing students for all the opportunities and challenges of life. Embracing cutting-edge technologies, we ensure our curriculum is innovative, context-specific and future-ready, empowering our students and staff to take initiative and adapt to the ever-changing world.

Our girls’ school offers an environment deliberately tailored to the distinct needs, cognitive and social development, and aspirations of female students, ensuring they flourish and lead in their chosen areas. At Strathcona, we invite students to become active participants in their education and instil a belief that anything is possible with motivation, dedication and hard work.

For over a hundred years, our motto — Fortiter, Fideliter, Feliciter (Bravely, Faithfully, Happily) has enabled our school to be unique amongst girls’ schools. We promote a balanced ‘wholebeing’ approach, personal and academic excellence, and so much more. Extensive co-curricular programs, community service experiences, social justice projects, enterprise and global engagement opportunities are all available, but just as essential are the life skills of socialising, connecting with each other, building relationships, having a go, having fun and finding contentment within. What sets Strathcona apart is that we are a happy and supportive ecosystem for girls to learn, grow and take their place as active and informed contributors and designers of the future.

As we enthusiastically embark on the next century at Strathcona Girls Grammar, our vision continues: we aspire to be a nurturing learning community that develops intellectually curious, optimistic, life-ready young women who are empowered to shape their future in a rapidly changing world. Strathcona is more than a school; it is a community where each girl’s ambitions and aspirations are taken seriously, her voice is heard and respected, and her personalised journey is supported every step of the way.

As Principal, I invite you to join us as we transform learning for this third millennium, forge new paths, and celebrate the remarkable legacy of Strathcona. I am excited to lead this vibrant learning community into a future where our students are unstoppable and redefine what is possible. We are not just educating the leaders and shapers of tomorrow; we are nurturing the creators of a better, more inclusive, equitable and sustainable world.

Together, we can write the next chapter in the illustrious story of Strathcona Girls Grammar.
