All candidates must meet the Music Prerequisites listed in our Scholarship Policy and, if meeting the criteria, also register and complete the Academic Scholarship Registration.

Audition performed with one instrument:
Two pieces, contrasting in style and tempo, no longer than 8 minutes in total. A selection of technical examples in scales, arpeggios or technical exercise which demonstrate facility, control, coordination and tonal qualities. These examples nominated by the candidate should be in at least 3 different key tonalities, including major and minor.
 
Audition performed with two instruments:
Two pieces on main instrument, contrasting in style and tempo, plus one short piece or excerpt on the second instrument. Candidates may be requested to begin at a significant section or conclude early. Total performance time no longer than 10 minutes.
A selection of technical examples in scales, arpeggios or technical exercise which demonstrate facility, control, coordination and tonal qualities. These examples nominated by the candidate should be in at least 3 different key tonalities including major and minor.
 
Candidates may also be required to perform the following at the Music Audition:
  • A short sight-reading excerpt
  • A selection of aural tests, appropriate to the level of study (please note: Aural testing will not necessarily be based on AMEB type examples).
