Mrs Jenny Meachem
Jenny Meachem first picked up an instrument aged eight. Like most primary school aged children, it was the recorder. She taught herself to play it and also taught some of her classmates as well. Two years later, for her tenth birthday, she received a clarinet and from this day onwards music became a serious part of her life.
Miss Eleni Kyritsis
Year 3 Teacher & Junior School Leader of Digital Learning and Innovation
Eleni Kyritsis is our Year 3 teacher and Junior School Leader of Digital Learning and Innovation. She has been recognised for her outstanding contribution and support of the education community by being awarded the 2017 ACCE Australian Educator of the Year and the 2016 DLTV Victorian Educator of the Year.
Mrs Lucinda Thom
Year 10 Coordinator
Lucinda has spent most of the 25 years of her teaching career involved in Pastoral Care Management and in the English classroom. Joining the Strathcona staff in 2006 after having spent her early teaching years as both a Head of English and Deputy Head of Senior School, Lucinda has taken on a variety of roles at Strathcona including Year Level Coordinator of Years 8 and 11, Pastoral Care Coordinator at Tay Creggan, School Magazine Editor and more recently, Lead Researcher of Pastoral care.
Mr Birch Behmann
Head of Outdoor Education
Birch Behmann has just started his third year as Head of Outdoor Education at Strathcona. He works for the Outdoor Education Group but functions as an embedded member of Strathcona staff to support the integration of outdoor education into the life of a Strathcona student and the school as a whole.
Mrs Ginetta Ito Cannon
Ginetta is a passionate art teacher who loves inspiring and challenging her students to express themselves creatively. This year she has embarked upon many innovative projects with the girls and has also given attention to our wider school community with the Create like she creates, See what she sees, Learn what she learns program.
Ms Liesl Woods
Head of Health & Physical Education
As the Head of Health and Physical Education and a lover of both recreational and competitive sporting and outdoor activities, Liesl really practices what she preaches. She plays sport socially and competitively and has even been selected to represent Australia in indoor soccer at the World Cup in Barcelona in November.
Mr Gavin Smith-Pill
Advanced Learning Teacher, Junior School
A member of Strathcona’s Advanced Learning Team, Gavin Smith-Pill has introduced a number of STEM exploration programs in the Junior School in 2017. These STEM explorations include the Awesome Architecture Association and Enthusiastic Engineering Experience. These programs encourage students to apply computational thinking and work collaboratively to design houses, townships, Pachinko machines, working cranes and suspension bridges.
