Past Strathcona teacher honoured with OAM

Congratulations to past Strathcona teacher Rosemary Brown, who has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) ‘for service to international relations through voluntary education roles’.

Rosemary was a special Education Teacher at Strathcona Girls Grammar School, and support coordinator of international students, from 1989 to 2000.

Rosemary’s citation also included services such as:

  • Volunteer Educator, Teachers Across Borders, Battambang, Cambodia, since 2014.
  • Voluntary Consultant, unit for children with intellectual disabilities, Sunway Secondary College, Kuala Lumpur, since 2001 and Coordinator, Australian visits for Malaysian teachers and parents, since 2003.
  • Education Officer, St John’s Homes for Boys and Girls, (now part of Anglicare), Canterbury, Victoria, 1977-1988.
  • Chair, Waverley Youth Housing Group, 1985-1990.
