Position Vacant: Junior School class teacher (full-time)
Position Description
Leave replacement positions in 2010 for Term 3 and 4. This is a full-time position.
You are directly responsible for the welfare of the group of students in your class. The responsibilities of this position are to assist and monitor students’ holistic development – academic, social and personal issues. This should be achieved in the following ways:
Daily Responsibilities:
- Be available in class room by 8:30am
- Mark roll, check notes for absences
- Check uniform – especially before attending assemblies
- Check uniform, blazers over jumpers etc. – before going home
- Tidy room
- Lights and fans turned off, outside doors closed
Administration Duties:
- Distribute notices, name any uncollected notices to hand out on student’s return or put in student pigeon holes.
- Write semester reports acknowledging student progress, contributions in the areas of involvement in the class, co-curricular activities and personal achievements.
- Collation of reports, envelope and check that all required reports are included
- Arrange the election of House Captains, Deputy Captains and Social Service Leaders in Year 5 & 6
- Help organise and support social service activities
Personal Service:
Strathcona prides itself on its caring, personal knowledge and understanding of students. You are the key person in providing “personal service” to the students you are responsible for in your own class.
- Liaise with Head of Mellor House, Counsellor, Chaplain, Dean of Student
- Attend Parent Information NightsTerm 1
- Attend relevant Parent Teacher Interview nights
- Attend Year level camp
- Monitor students’ involvement in co-curricular activities and advise and assist them to become involved in activities
- In addition to own year level Concert, take on a production task and attend one other year level concert (PP-2, 3/4 , 5/6).
