Strathcona. Bring out her best.

“I’s almost like I can see across the world.”

— Lea

The opportunities for individual and group performance emerge through our comprehensive arts program which brings out the creative potential of each girl. Our girls have the opportunity to explore the artist within and push the boundaries of creativity … to excel in dramatic challenges, develop their musical talents and much more.

The Arts at Strathcona

At Strathcona we recognise that art is an increasingly diverse field. Our girls have the opportunity, materials and facilities to explore a huge variety of artistic forms. Our art programs build essential skills and knowledge, allowing each girl to experiment and reach her potential. Design, ceramics, textiles, painting and drawing are all available.

Strathcona also emphasises computer-based art forms such as multimedia production, online publishing, graphic design and digital video and music creation. Our computer-based art program allows students to investigate the creative dimensions of electronic technology.

Musical opportunities are also varied. Individual tuition is available in a wide variety of instruments and there are orchestras and choirs that unite larger groups in both the Junior and Senior schools. Students can explore a range of musical styles, with Jazz, Chamber, Concert and Brass ensembles and bands just some of the options available.

Drama also plays a significant part in each girl’s journey at Strathcona. Each year we have a major drama production and throughout the year there are student developed House Drama competitions. Dance festivals, soirees and musicals are further exciting ways to encourage student participation.

From dance, drama and music to debating, photography and multi-media production, Strathcona girls are learning to be well-rounded, creative and confident individuals.
