Strathcona. Bring out her best.

“When I create, I discover.”

— Laura

In the instrumental music program, students may choose from more than 25 different instruments.

Instrumental Music at Strathcona

After school on Tuesdays or Fridays, the girls rehearse in ensemble groups: for example, Strings, Flute Ensemble, Percussion Group, Brass Ensemble and Woodwind Ensemble. For particular events or as part of the many music concerts held during the year, these ensembles can be combined in different ways: as a large orchestra, a jazz band, a concert band and various small groups.

The choirs practise before school and at lunchtime and there is a Years 7/8 choir, Les Alouettes, the Tay Creggan choir, Cantabile choir, Madrigals and Year 12 choir.

The ensembles play a major role in whole school worship services and major events such as Presentation Night.

Participation in a broad range of co-curricular activities helps girls make friends both within their year level and beyond, increases their connection with their school, gives them valuable outlets for their boundless energy and enthusiasm and enhances their development and enjoyment of life. We hope that you will join us in encouraging your daughters to involve themselves in the wide co-curricular and extra-curricular offerings at Strathcona.
