Strathcona. Bring out her best.

“I’s almost like I can see across the world.”

— Lea

Today, more than ever we interact with a global community. Embracing the possibilities is important in the development of all our girls. Strathcona students are informed, inspired and connected.

Global Connections

Strathcona’s three Melbourne-based campuses provide students with a range of specialist facilities and purpose-built spaces which promote interaction between students and broaden their horizons to the world beyond the school gates; local, national, international.

Modern facilities and outstanding resources at Strathcona allow students to experience a learning journey that is virtually without limits. The technology of our “Homelink” program and well equipped computing rooms eliminate the need for laptop computers. For many years now, we have refined our Intranet, allowing students to join our ICT network from home. It provides students with immediate, protected access to online learning through “Blackboard” a teaching resource that is the conduit between teachers and students beyond school hours. Homelink also provides students with guided access to the internet.

Of course, the way in which students perceive the world is not only a product of information technologies. Our outstanding libraries on the three campuses include a range of media from books and audiovisual materials to CD ROM, newspapers and journals, as well an extensive range of databases. Students also develop the skills to access, evaluate and transform information into the knowledge which enriches and empowers.

The space to learn and grow is important for students. The new creative arts space, ingenious learning areas and adjoining modern classrooms within the new Mellor House provide students with an environment that creates a sense of community and co-operation between class groups.

The spirit of co-operation also characterises our extensive program of student exchanges, both interstate and international. Queensland, New South Wales, New Zealand, Korea, Japan, France, Italy, South Africa, the UK, the USA, China … our students are global citizens indeed. Opportunities at home to host international visitors also contribute to a deeper understanding of different cultures. Such experiences engender the confidence in the girls to embrace and explore the world.
